Under Equinox Skies Soaring Eagles Dance

Native people have long looked to the skies for signals of season changes. A smaller group was in attendance with great enthusiasm from the dancers and the singing. We hope you enjoy the images from the Sept. 27th SE Dance workshop.

The Soaring Eagle Dance workshop dancers, parents and mentors have been very busy these last two months at Pala, Barona and Sycuan Pow wows. This is a fine time to pause and reflect on the achievements of our Soaring Eagle dancers in Pow wow competition. Dance instructor Chuck Cadotte placed 1st and 2nd at Tule River and Tejon Pow wows! Congratulations!! We are all very proud of all our dancers.

By example these pictures will demonstrate views of our instructor, elders, parents and new and young Soaring Eagle dancers from our last Soaring Eagle Workshop of September at the SDUSD Ballard Center. The Ballard Parent Center location is in Old Town at 2375 Congress St. San Diego, CA 92110.

It is very important, without outside organization support for the food, to remember to bring a potluck item or side dish for the Soaring Eagles evening feast. It is our Indian way to share with the whole community. Thanks to Randy, who has long been regarded as the Prayer Man for the Soaring Eagles, for the blessing before our evening meal.

We finished out with a set of Round Dances after Chuck offered some review as to the styles of round dances and their place and practice in many of our regions and communities.
